Course Objective

This one-day course is designed for all employees no matter what their position or occupation. The course is based on the HSE’s five steps to risk assessment document and will teach approved risk assessment methods. At the end of the course the attendees will be better equipped to carry out risk assessments and have a good understanding of different types of risk assessment.

This training course in Risk Assessment aims to provide supervisors and employees with knowledge and understanding of the risk assessment process and the skills required to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.

  • apply a range of techniques to collect evidence for a risk assessment

  • identify a range of health and safety hazards
  • identify who might be harmed and how
  • calculate an appropriate initial risk rating
  • outline the factors affecting the severity of harm
  • outline the factors affecting the likelihood of harm being caused
  • identify and evaluate existing control measures
  • propose additional control measures in order to reduce risk to an acceptable level
  • apply the system of controls under the TTOSH Act
  • revise a risk rating to reflect additional controls
  • record the findings of a risk assessment
  • review and revise a risk assessment when necessary
  • make recommendations based on the findings of a risk assessment
